The AOSOR Youth Club (YC) to nurture within Asia Oceania the future leaders of the region was conducted in the beautiful, futuristic city of Astana, Kazakhstan from 22 to 25 June 2026 in the Park Inn by Radisson Astana. The AOSOR/AOSR thanks our host - the energetic and very supportive Prof Tairkhan Dautov, President of the Radiological Society of Kazakhstan (RSK) and the RSK. Astana is located in the central Asian steppe, along the Ishim River, providing the backdrop for intensive and immersive interactive learning sessions. Meal times (breakfast, lunches and dinners) provided the informal networking and bonding time between participants.

The 10th edition of the YC had participants from Australia, Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong SAR, India, Indonesia, Japan, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Mongolia, Nepal, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Uzbekistan  and Vietnam. The YC participants and AOSR tutors were welcomed to a wonderful dinner where the RSK Honorary President, Prof Raushan Rakhimzhanova also graced the occasion. This welcome reception provided the ice-breaker opportunity for the participants who were meeting each other for the first time.

The sessions kicked off with 'The Past, Present and Future of Radiological Society of Kazakhstan' by Prof Dautov, followed by 'Women's Leadership in Medicine: Challenges, Achievements, and Strategic Perspectives' by Prof Anar Turmukhambetova; 'From Solo Hero to Team Leader: Rethinking Leadership in Medicine' by Prof Talgat Nurgozhin, 'Radiology Training Leadership in Kazakhstan' by Dr Dinara Jumadilova and rounding up the first day of our host speakers was Mr Issa Zhantore, on 'Clinic Radiation Safety Strategy- the Role of the Clinical Qualified Medical Physicist'.

The next day, interactive sessions started off with 'Global Leadership' by Emeritus Prof Joseph Lee (USA), 'Academic and Society Member Management & Intersociety Relationship' by Dr Evelyn Ho (Malaysia), 'Finance Management & Risk Management' by Dr Chamaree Chuapetcharasopon (Thailand) and 'Perspectives & Preparation in Radiology' by Prof Yi-Hong Chou, (Chinese Taipei) also the AOSOR Director.

The wrap up included an open discussion related to topics selected by the participants and everyone had an opportunity to 'Meet the RSK Alumni 'of the past AOSOR youth clubs. The sharing session provided insights into the YC experience and impact especially on the alumni professional development. The alumni were Azhar Musslymkanovna Zhampiisova (2018YC), Almas Bimakhan (2023), Alisher Dauytov (2024) and Bauryzhan Bakhytovich Kaliyev (online 2022, on-site2025).

The program in this YC was designed for an introduction to leadership know-how as well as deepen the participants’ understanding of radiological societies and their operations as they prepared to make significant contributions within their societies and in the future, perhaps to the AOSR. The Co-director's dinner was held in the Beijing Palace Soluxe Hotel Astana revolving restaurant that provided a wonderful view of Astana whilst the Director's Dinner was at the Lobby Bar Restaurant Radisson Hotel Astana. All lunches and breakfasts and welcome dinner was in the RBG restaurant in the Hotel Park Inn by Radisson Astana. All 2026 YC participants were presented with a certificate of attendance and of course more opportunities for photos.

What did the participants think and feel about the YC? Some thoughts that they shared in short were :'useful, inspiring, making friends, networking opportunities, finding colleagues with common interests, widened perspectives' and these were from participants who were as "young" as first year residents to those who had been working for many years and also holding council positions in their home societies.

Heartlfelt thanks to our hosts who ensured the YC proceeded smoothly, and everyone was appreciative of their pivotal roles in the planning and coordination, including the airport transfers. It was a privilege to enjoy authentic Kazakhstan hospitality. It was with a heavy heart for many as we parted and said "till we meet again", perhaps at an AOSOR YC alumni netwoking session at one of the Asian Oceanian Congresses of Radiology. қайта кездескенше (till we meet again in Kazakh).
